Psalm 131(132):6–10
A prayer recalling God’s dwelling with his people and asking continued faithfulness to the covenant.
Gospel
Mark 6:53–56
Crowds recognise Jesus and bring the sick to him. Even touching his cloak becomes a sign of faith, and many are healed.
Reflection
The Temple narrative emphasises God’s desire to dwell with humanity. The Catechism teaches that God continually draws near, culminating in Christ as Emmanuel — God with us (CCC 457–460). Jesus’ healing ministry reflects that same presence made tangible. Faith becomes an act of trust: recognising God’s nearness and responding with openness.
Christian life therefore involves attentiveness — seeing where God is already active rather than assuming absence. When we approach Christ with trust, even simple gestures of faith can open the way for grace and healing.
One line to carry today
God is near — reach out in trust.
